Who We Are & What We Do

The Lang Family Foundation, founded in 1997, is committed to supporting the community where A & E Incorporated. employees live. Through grants, scholarships, and outreach programs, our mission is to strengthen and enrich this community.

A & E Incorporated upholds a strong family business ethos and continues to invest in the community via this private family foundation. The Foundation was established based on the vision and bequest of Helen M. Lang, a former shareholder of A & E Incorporated and the widow of John W. Lang, the company's second-generation President & CEO.
Over time, the Foundation's mission has evolved to address the community's changing needs while honoring Helen's original vision.

In 1997, John R. Lang, the third-generation President & CEO, and his wife Sandra P. Lang, realized Helen’s vision by founding the initial board of The Lang Family Foundation. They laid the groundwork for the Foundation’s current framework and mission.

The Foundation’s logo symbolizes the family history of A & E Incorporated. It features the Cloch Lighthouse on the Clyde River in Glasgow, Scotland. Daniel M. Lang, the founder of A & E Incorporated, worked as an electrician at the nearby Clyde Bank Shipyard. While completing a ship destined for New York, he chose to stay in the United States and eventually became a citizen.

Today, the Foundation’s board includes family members, John R. and Sandra P. Lang, Ian Lang (the fourth-generation President & CEO of A & E Incorporated), and his wife Julie Lang, President of The Lang Family Foundation.
